Hi, it’s me… David McCallum - Your Financial Tactician
Some of my mates call me ‘Super Dave’.
Born and raised in Prince Rupert, I have been attracted to ocean wilderness, adventure, and freedom to live and roam my whole life. I have explored a number of countries and occupations in my life, including sport fishing (guiding) and forestry silvaculture. I have called a land-locked unit home since 1997, in Long Lake Heights - Nanaimo.
In 2006, I completed a Master of Arts (MA) Degree from U.Vic, Geography, which led me to a 5-year career in Research & Development and Project Management on behalf of the BC Shellfish Aquaculture Industry and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).
Desiring the freedom and challenge of self-employment, in early 2011, I made a major tactical move and began a career with Freedom 55 Financial as a Financial Security Advisor for Business Owners. I focus my expertise towards people like you and me; that is, hard-working, successful, and growth-mode business owners and families that love living on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Why am I in this Business?
I admit… I crave learning about your business. It is businesses like yours that drive the culture and diversity of this place we call home, and I love learning about it. If you’d invite me in to your shop, I will be honoured, intrigued, and curious. I want to learn about how you roll; What keeps you up at night? What is your major tactical move at the moment? What’s your greatest success, and what’s on deck?

Is between the ages of 30 and 70.

Community Engagement:
In addition to my career, I have a passion for community involvement, and I have strong interests in ocean sports, outdoor recreation, and industrial development. In 1997 and 2001, I assisted the Nanaimo Dive Association with scuttling two major artificial reef SCUBA dive sites in the waters near Nanaimo. In 2003, I led the team (I was Chairman of the Skate Board) of the Nanaimo Skatepark Association to completion of the Rotary Skatepark in North Nanaimo. For a number of years (2003 through 2009), I led the Race Committee (Principal Race Officer) of the Van Isle 360 International Yacht Race, where I earned that nickname 'Super Dave'. I am still recognized as this today by many of my friends, in both yachting and business circles.
Most recently (September, 2020), friends and I cycled the length of Vancouver Island, from Victoria to Port Hardy. We treated the adventure as an opportunity to fund raise for two charities: one local (Nanaimo Search & Rescue) and another international (The Neil MacKenzie Trust). We proudly raised nearly $5,000 combined, divided between these two wonderful charities.
